  Why ban the sale of fuel vehicles?

  Although the market share of new energy vehicles is getting higher and higher, as an "old qualification" that has existed for so long, do fuel vehicles really need to be banned?

  Feng Fei, governor of the Hainan Provincial People’s Government, explained: "There are three main considerations. The first central government has requirements, the strategic positioning of three districts and one center. One of the districts is called the Ecological Civilization Experimental Zone, and the central government has proposed a relatively high positioning. Therefore, we regard energy conservation and environmental protection of automobiles, and the large-scale popularization of the use of new energy vehicles as an important strategic direction. It is also as the construction of ecological civilization. We call it one of the four landmark projects."

  "The second consideration is that Hainan has a need. Blue seas, blue skies, green waters and green mountains are very scarce and important resources in Hainan. Hainan’s ecological environment can only get better, not worse."

  "The third future has prospects. We have been thinking about the free trade port in Hainan, including what kind of development model and form the industry in Hainan will be. We need to plan for the future and achieve leapfrog development. The development of new energy vehicles is a very important direction representing the future. It turns out that I am doing economic research. If a new technology and new product accounts for 1% of the market share, it may be a leap and a qualitative leap. Now we see that new energy vehicles have far exceeded such a hurdle and become a new industry with enough business models and sufficient internal motivation for development. Therefore, I think the new energy vehicle market in Hainan may be the fastest growing market in the country in the future."

  Wang Guoqiang, director and deputy party secretary of China FAW Group Co., Ltd., went on to express his willingness to work together as a service provider for this goal: "By 2025, the sales of Hongqi cars will exceed 1.20 million, and the new energy vehicles will be more than 500,000. By 2030, it is in line with our goal of banning the sale of fuel vehicles in Hainan Province."
