Tokyo Motor Show debut, Lexus RX seven-seat version spy photos

Previously, we reported that Lexus plans to launch a seven-seat version of the Lexus RX. Recently, overseas media exposed a suspected road test spy photo of the car. It is reported that the new car lengthens the body while keeping the wheelbase unchanged, adopting a "2 + 3 + 2" seven-seat layout. It is expected to be officially unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show in October.

The picture above shows the Lexus RX L spy photo; the picture below shows the current Lexus RX.

Judging from the only spy photo, the overall body shape of the new car is consistent with the current model, and the front face still adopts a unique multi-banner air intake grille. Although it is impossible to judge how much longer the RX seven-seat version body is based on visual inspection alone, according to overseas media reports, the seven-seat version will lengthen the rear body while maintaining the wheelbase of the five-seat version. The roof line will be as straight as possible to provide sufficient head space. In the future, this car may be named Lexus RX L.

In addition, Japanese media have revealed that the Lexus RX 450hL will be lengthened on the basis of the current RX 450h model, and the body length will be increased from the current model’s 4890mm to 5050mm, but the wheelbase will remain unchanged at 2790mm. In terms of power, the new car will continue to be equipped with a hybrid system composed of a 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 engine and an electric motor, with a combined maximum power of 313 horsepower.
